Pier 13 formed in Rio de Janeiro with Danilo Cutrim on vocals and guitar, Fabio Brazza on bass, Rodrigo Martins on drums, Bruno Silva on guitar, and Saulo Duarte on keyboards. They started out playing small venues around the city, gradually building a following through their live shows.
Their 2007 debut album included "Bela e a Fera," which became their most recognizable song. The track drew some attention for sharing a title with the Disney ballad, but it found its own audience in Brazil and Portugal. Other songs like "A Vida É Assim" and "Dias e Noites" also became part of their setlists.
They followed up with the 2010 album "Um Novo Lugar," which continued in a similar vein. The band's sound leaned on straightforward arrangements and earnest lyrics, with occasional collaborations like the featured vocal on "Fala Demais."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
