Pigalle

Pigalle formed in Paris in the late 1970s, mixing punk energy with rockabilly rhythms. Their debut album from 1979 took its title from the song "Dans la salle du bar tabac de la Rue de Martyr," which became something of a calling card for the band's rowdy, youthful sound.

That first record established their approach, and they followed it with albums like "Second Album" in 1981 and "86" in 1986. Over time, their music began to incorporate other elements, including pop and reggae touches, while still keeping that initial punk-rockabilly foundation.

They broke up in 1991, but songs like "L'amour forain" and "Sophie de Nantes" have kept their work circulating among listeners who appreciate that particular French blend of styles from that era.
