They started playing local clubs, drawing from Western alternative rock influences. Their early sound mixed melodic pop with distorted guitars, heard on songs like 'Thank You, My Twilight' and 'Advice'.
In 1994, 'Thank You, My Twilight' became a hit in Japan, helping establish their presence. They've released over twenty studio albums, including 'White' in 1995 and 'Happy Bivouac' in 1998. Hino left in 1997 but returned in 2009, and the band faced a label dispute that led to a brief hiatus in the late 2000s.
They kept recording through the 2000s with albums like 'Little Busters' and 'Awakening', and more recently put out 'Moondust' in 2015 and 'Rebroadcast' in 2019. Their music often touches on themes of love and personal reflection, with tracks like 'Another Morning' and 'Beautiful Morning With You' showing their melodic side.
