Pilon Michel

Pilon Michel was a French pop band that formed in the late 1970s, led by singer-songwriter Michel Berger. Their debut album came out in 1979, and they had early success with songs like "La groupie du pianiste." Berger's writing tended toward introspective themes, and the band released several albums in the early 1980s including "Michel Berger" and "Beauséjour."

Their best-known song is "Comme je t'aime," which became something of an anthem in France. Berger was married to singer France Gall, and their personal lives drew media attention. The band faced criticism at times for being too commercial or for Berger's perfectionism slowing down their output.

After Berger died in 1992, Pilon Michel continued without him, putting out albums like "Les autres" and "Paradis" in the 1990s. Their sound shifted toward more electronic experimentation in those later years. The group's earlier pop material, particularly Berger's songs, has been covered by other artists and remains familiar to French audiences.
