Pilot to Gunner formed in 1996 with Jesus "Chuy" Guzman on vocals and guitar, Mario "Chino" Guzman on bass, and Alfonso "Poncho" Bañuelos on drums. They came together in California's barrios, drawing from both punk rock and traditional Mexican music.
Their 1997 album "Barrio Superstarrio" gave them their breakthrough track of the same name. The song became something of an anthem, and they followed it with three more albums: "Son del Barrio" in 2000, "Colores del Barrio" in 2003, and "Revolución del Barrio" in 2007. Other songs in their catalog include "Bring It Live" and "Get Saved."
Their lyrics often touched on life in the Latino community, and they kept playing through the 2000s with that mix of punk energy and Mexican musical roots.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
