Pipenine formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s with João Marcos on vocals, André Togni on guitar, Fernando Yukio on bass, and Luciano Garcia on drums. They played live shows around the city before catching producer Rick Bonadio's attention in 2003. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year.
Their song "Cada Escolha Uma Prisão" arrived in 2007 and became their most recognized track. Other songs like "Como Água" and "Entorpensante" also appeared in their catalog. The band's lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being too pessimistic, though they maintained a following in Brazilian rock circles.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
