Piper was a Scottish band from Paisley, formed by Tom Anderson, Ian Baillie, Alex Baird, and John Hutchinson. They're remembered for their 1964 single 'Downtown,' which became an international hit. The song was written by Tony Hatch.
After 'Downtown,' Piper released other material including the singles 'Give Me a Chance' in 1965 and 'I Can't Stop' in 1966, plus a self-titled album in 1967. None of these achieved the same level of success as their breakthrough track.
