Pipettes

The Pipettes formed in 2003 as a British indie pop group with a lineup that included Gwenno Saunders, Rose Elinor Dougall, Julia Waring, and Annabelle Wilder. Their sound drew from 1950s and 1960s girl groups like The Shangri-Las and The Shirelles, mixing doo-wop harmonies with straightforward pop hooks.

Their debut single "Judy" came out in 2005, followed by the album "Pipettes" in 2006. That album included "The Shoe That Fits," which became one of their best-known songs. In 2007, Dougall left to work on solo material.

After Dougall's departure, the band kept recording and putting out music, though their output became less frequent. Their playful lyrics sometimes drew criticism, but also found an audience that appreciated their lighthearted approach to pop conventions.
