Pitingo

Pitingo is the stage name of Antonio Manuel Álvarez Vélez, who grew up in Ayamonte, Huelva, Spain. He started singing flamenco early, but his approach has always mixed that tradition with other sounds. Some of his songs, like 'Killing Me Softly With This Song' and 'Fiesta Por Tangos,' show how he works with pop and jazz elements while keeping a flamenco base.

His first album came out in 2006, simply called 'Pitingo.' Later records like 'Soulería' from 2009 and 'El Paseo de los Tristes' from 2017 continued in that vein. The way he blends styles has sometimes drawn criticism from flamenco purists, but it has also found listeners outside traditional circles.

He has worked with other Spanish artists, including India Martínez and Diego. Songs such as 'Al Corazón' and 'Los Tiempos Estan Cambiando' reflect his interest in bringing different musical currents together without leaving flamenco behind entirely.
