Pitram formed in Mumbai around 2010 with Ankur Tewari on vocals and guitar, Raghav Meattle also singing and playing guitar, Abhishek Basoya on bass, and Ayush Ray on drums. They were an independent Indian band that worked together for about a decade.
Their debut single "Badtameez Dil" came out in 2014 and became their most recognizable track. The song's melody and Tewari's vocal delivery connected with listeners and helped bring the band wider attention.
After that first release, they put out other songs like "Maati" in 2015, "Chhod Diya" in 2016, "Tere Layi" in 2017, and "Ek Saath Ho" in 2018. In 2020, the band announced an indefinite hiatus as members turned to individual projects.
