Pits-Stop formed in the early 2000s with Paulo Schroeber on guitar and vocals, Ricardo Osse on drums, and Léo Gomes on bass. They started playing around with the idea of mixing the berimbau, that single-string Brazilian instrument, with heavy metal. The combination wasn't exactly conventional, and some critics weren't sure what to make of it at first.
They put out an album called 'Berimbau Metalizado' in 2010, and the title track became their calling card. You can hear that mix of traditional rhythm and metal riffing on songs like 'Borboletas' and 'Ciumenta' too. They followed it up with albums every few years, including 'Samba Metal' in 2014 and 'Tribal Punk' in 2018.
They toured quite a bit in Europe and South America, playing songs like 'Na Rua, Na Chuva e Na Fazenda' and 'Quebre o Gelo' live. The band's lineup stayed pretty consistent with those three core members.
