Planetboom is a band that formed in London in the early 2000s. Their music pulls from hip-hop, funk, and electronic beats, and they built a following through live performances before landing a record deal. The group originally included Samir "Seven" Ouahrani on vocals and guitar, Jon "JD" Deering on drums, Adam "Mac" McNamara on bass, and Dan "Danimal" Thomas on keyboards.
Their 2007 single "Kansahamnida" became their breakthrough track. It was inspired by a trip to Seoul and its energetic sound helped push them to a wider audience. Other songs like "New Levels," "LEMME TELLYA," and "Jesus Over Everything" followed, building out their catalog of upbeat, genre-blending tracks.
They released several albums, including Planetboom in 2008, The Next Level in 2010, Realize in 2013, Origins in 2016, and Renaissance in 2019. Keyboardist Dan Thomas left the group in 2015. The band has continued to perform and record, maintaining a sound built around live energy and a mix of styles.
