Plano 86 formed in São Paulo in 1986, with Alemão on vocals, Marcos Boca on bass, Bernardo França on guitar, and Pedro Montana on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1988, followed by records like 'Cara Estranho' in 1990, 'Desgraça, Dor e Sofrimento' in 1993, and 'Amor Médio' in 1996.
Their songs often dealt with social issues and personal struggles, which sometimes drew criticism. The track 'Cara Estranho' became one of their better-known songs, a ballad about longing for connection that stuck around in their setlists.
They put out an acoustic album in 1999 and a live recording in 2001, and marked their 25th anniversary with a release in 2011.
