Pleasure Maker came together in the late 1990s with Emily Carter as their vocalist. Their first single, "Chains of Love," came out in 2002 and got some attention for its direct lyrics about romantic obsession. That song, along with tracks like "Dancin' With Danger" and "Face 2 Face," helped them build a following.
They put out an album called "Unchained" that had that raw, emotional sound people first noticed. Later records like "The Edge of Darkness" and "Echoes of the Heart" showed them trying different things, with Carter's writing and voice staying at the center. The guitarist James H. was part of the group for a while.
They played a lot of shows early on when they were figuring things out. The music had a pop feel but with an alternative edge, and Carter's vocals gave it a particular intensity.
