Poder Asignado was a band from Guadalajara, Mexico, with members Gerardo "El Jerry" Ortiz on vocals, René "El Tiburón" Ortega on guitar, Daniel "El DanMan" Saucedo on drums, and Héctor "El Burrito" Fonseca on bass. They put out their first album in 1994, which included the song "Así Me Fui."
They released several more albums over the next decade, including Fuego en la Piel in 1996, a self-titled record in 1999, and Regreso a la Tierra in 2005. Their music mixed hip-hop, rock, and soul, and they were known for energetic live shows, which they documented on the 2002 album En Vivo.
Early on, some critics questioned their genre-blending approach, and at one point there were accusations about their lyrics. The band maintained that their songs reflected real experiences in their community. They developed a following in Latin music circles, with "Así Me Fui" becoming one of their better-known tracks.
