Podre Casca formed in Porto Alegre in 1996, with Neco Candal on vocals, Marcello "Curumim" Camelo on guitar, and Pedro Penna on bass. They put out their first album, "Zip Anarruma," in 2000. The band's second album, "Fazendo Besteira," came out in 2005 and included the song "A Ponte," which became widely known.
Their lyrics sometimes touched on politics and religion, which drew some criticism. They kept recording, with later albums like "RaĆzes e Frutos" in 2010 and "A Margem das Coisas" in 2017. Other songs from their catalog include "Fazer Sofrer," "Lute ou Lute!," "Medo Dentro," and "Merda de Vida."
