Polifemo

Polifemo formed in Buenos Aires in the early 2000s around singer-songwriter Julián García, guitarist Ignacio Cuevas, and drummer Andrés Marino. They released their self-titled debut album in 2005, followed by 'Piel' in 2008 and 'El Mundo es un Lugar' in 2012. Their 2015 album 'Tu Forma Real' brought them wider attention, with the title track becoming their most recognizable song.

García's lyrics often drew from literary influences like García Márquez and Borges, exploring themes of love and identity over rock and electronic textures. The band's sound developed through those early albums into something more atmospheric by the time of 'Tu Forma Real,' which balanced pop structures with introspective writing.

They faced the usual financial pressures and industry skepticism that many independent Argentine bands encounter, with some critics questioning their experimental tendencies while others appreciated their willingness to blend genres. Their music never followed a straightforward commercial path, but found listeners who connected with its emotional directness.
