Ponto Inicial

Ponto Inicial formed in São Paulo in 1988 with Zé Ramalho on vocals, Gomes on guitar, Téo Dornellas on bass, and Beto Lee on drums. They released their self-titled debut album the following year. The track 'Teoria do Caos' from that record became a hit, capturing something of the era's mood in Brazil.

Their music mixed rock with folk and psychedelic elements, avoiding straightforward formulas. They put out seven studio albums during their active years, with songs like 'Estrela do Sul' and 'O Tempo Não Para' joining 'Teoria do Caos' as notable tracks. Paulo Miklos contributed additional vocals later on.

The band faced some public controversies, including accusations of plagiarism and drug use, which they denied. These issues kept them in the conversation, for better or worse, as a group that operated outside the usual norms.
