Poogy formed in 2014 when four friends, Mohammad Tariq, Junaid Khan, Sheraz Rehman, and Iftikhar Ali, started playing together. They built a local following performing at events around Pakistan.
In 2016, their song "Natati La Khaiai" became popular across the subcontinent. It mixed Pashto folk melodies with pop arrangements, and its chorus caught on with listeners.
Some critics questioned their approach to traditional music, but the band kept working. They've released other material since then.
