Power Nerds formed in Barcelona in 2001 with David Puig on vocals, Albert Puig on bass, Marc Fernandez on guitar, and Xevi Vila on drums. Their sound pulled from rock and punk, but with a lighter, more humorous touch that set them apart from more serious bands in that scene.
In 2003, they released "Burro!" and it became their breakout track. The song's absurd lyrics and high-energy delivery caught on quickly, making the band a familiar name across Spain. Other songs like "Levanta o Sovaco" and "#SENSACIONAL" followed a similar pattern of catchy, irreverent rock.
Their first album came out in 2005, simply titled "Power Nerds." The lineup changed over time, with Raúl Alarcón joining on drums after Xevi Vila's departure. They kept recording and playing shows, putting out albums like "Vamonos de Fiesta" in 2019. Their music sometimes incorporated ska or flamenco touches, but always kept that upbeat, slightly silly core.
