Preguiça Tola formed in São Paulo in the 1980s. Their song 'Coluna Morta' became their most recognizable track. The band's debut album was called 'Memórias do Esquecimento' in 1984, followed by 'Coluna Morta' in 1986, 'Estranhos Loucos' in 1988, and 'Psicodália' in 1990.
Their lineup included Ronaldo Bastos on vocals and guitar, Francisco de Assis on drums, Marcelo Costa on bass, and Fernando Mancini on guitar. The group disbanded in 1990 but reunited in 2006.
