Primadonna formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s, a group of musicians who mixed Brazilian rhythms with pop. Their song 'Tudo É Passageiro' became their most recognizable track, though they also recorded 'Ando Meio Desligado' and 'A Minha Voz Não Sai'.
They released their self-titled debut album in 2000, followed by 'Tudo É Passageiro' in 2004. The band included vocalist Daniella Mercury, bassist André Moraes, keyboardist Johnny Gill, percussionist Jamelão, saxophonist Ricardo Chaves, and drummer Wilson Farias.
Some of their performances drew protests from conservative groups, particularly around Mercury's public support for LGBTQ+ rights. The band kept playing through that period, putting out another album called 'Balé Multicolorido' later on.
