Prior formed in Madrid in the late 1990s, starting as a group of friends playing together in a makeshift studio. The band eventually signed with Sony Music and released their debut album '1000 Watts' in 2002. That record included 'Pa Estar Contentos,' which became one of their early hits.
They followed with albums like 'El Despertar' in 2005 and 'Silencio' in 2008, building a following through live shows. The band's lineup included Javier Escobedo, José Andrëu, Yeray Sabroso, and Javi Roldán.
In 2010, Prior dealt with a legal dispute over their back catalog with their former label. They continued releasing music, putting out 'Adiós' in 2011 and '20 Años' in 2019.
