Pr'ismos formed in São Paulo in the mid-1990s, mixing bossa nova with electronica and indie rock. Their 1998 debut album Apolo introduced that blend, and by 2001 they had a more polished sound on Amanhã, which included the song Cidade Pequena.
Cidade Pequena became their best-known track, with a nostalgic tone that connected with listeners in Brazil. The band kept experimenting, moving into indie rock and world music on 2005's Fora do Escuro and collaborating with rap group Nação Zumbi in 2012.
Their style sometimes drew criticism for being inaccessible, but they maintained a following for their willingness to blend genres. The lineup included Rodrigo Amarante on vocals and guitar, Gabriela Deptulski on keyboards, Frederico Demarca on bass, and Fábio Sá on drums.
