Producto Interior Bruto

Producto Interior Bruto formed in Madrid's Vallecas neighborhood in the early 2000s, with founding members El Chojin, El Langui, and Mr. Rango. Their music blended hip-hop, reggae, and Latin rhythms from the start, with lyrics that often addressed social inequality and political discontent. Their debut album 'Productos Interiores Brutos' came out in 2004 and included tracks like 'Ahora Y Siempre, Anti PGB' and 'Date Prisa, Cartero'.

They followed that with albums like 'La Madre del Cordero' in 2006, 'Días de Guerra' in 2008, and 'La Conquista del Pan' in 2011. Songs like 'Estas Ahi' and 'La Rueda' became staples for their dedicated fanbase, who called themselves 'las huestes.' The group's lineup saw some shifts over time, including El Langui's temporary departure in 2006.

El Chojin remained the primary vocalist, with El Langui on rap and Mr. Rango handling production. Their music found listeners who responded to its directness and street-level perspective, even as it occasionally drew criticism from more conservative quarters. They kept making records that reflected their neighborhood and their concerns, without much compromise.
