Produto Da Rua came together in São Paulo in the early 2000s, a group of musicians who started playing at underground parties and clubs. Their name translates to 'street product,' which fit the raw sound they were developing in those spaces. They put out their self-titled debut album in 2007, working outside the usual channels after some initial resistance from labels.

A song called 'Durma Com Os Anjos' became their breakout track, a melancholic ballad that connected with listeners across Brazil. The band's lyrics often dealt with urban struggles, which gave their music a specific gravity even as it found a wider audience.
