Projeto Alerta formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1980s with Douglas Rosendo on vocals, Sérgio Esteves on guitar, Bruno Rodrigues on bass, and Chico Rock on drums. Their debut album 'O Samba do Alerta' came out in 1992, featuring the track 'A Fé da Minha Avó' that became popular for its samba and reggae rhythms and Rosendo's vocal delivery.
They followed with albums like 'Projeto Alerta Ao Vivo' in 1995 and 'Paz e Harmonia' in 1998, then marked ten years together with '10 Anos de História' in 2001. Their music often drew from Brazilian samba and reggae traditions while incorporating other influences over time.
In 2003, the band's sound engineer died in an accident, which led to a break in their activity. They've recorded songs including 'Aos Romanos', 'Cristo Pode Mudar', 'Deus Conosco', and 'Dois Caminhos'.
