Projeto Vida Nova de Campo Grande formed in 1992 as a small group of musicians gathering in a church in Campo Grande. The collective includes Ricardo Duarte on lead vocals, Euripedes Nascimento on keyboards, Rafael Dutra on drums, Fabrício Pacheco on bass, and backing vocalists Tânia Dutra, Ana Paula, and Patricia Nascimento.
They released their first album in 1995, followed by several others including 'Espírito Santo' in 1997 and 'Como É Bom Louvar' in 2000. Their song 'Espírito Santo' became particularly well-known in Brazilian gospel circles, along with 'Vem Reinar Em Mim'.
In 2003, some religious leaders criticized their music as too secular, but the group continued performing. Ricardo Duarte faced a serious illness in 2010 but recovered and kept working with the band. Their music blends traditional gospel with contemporary arrangements, heard in their live album recorded in Campo Grande in 2006.
