Projetonave formed in São Paulo in the late 1990s around three musicians: Zé Luiz, Sidnei Sanches, and Rafael Malenotti. Their first album came out in 2000, simply called "Projeto Nave."
Their song "Cão Faminto" became particularly well-known, with lyrics that touched on poverty and social inequality. It appeared on their 2003 album of the same name. Other tracks like "Garrafa Vazia" and "Mercado Industrial" are also part of their catalog.
Their sound mixed rock and samba with more experimental touches. Zé Luiz handled lead vocals and guitar, while Sidnei Sanches played drums. They released several albums through 2012, including "Projeto Nave Trio" and "O Certo e o Errado."
