Promessa D formed in 2003 in Jundiaí, São Paulo, with members from a local Pentecostal church. The group included Vinny Vinny on lead vocals and guitar, Gustavo Vasconcelos on bass and vocals, Fernando Frutuoso on drums and vocals, and Lino Krizz on guitar and vocals. They released their first album in 2004.
Their song "Prova de Amor" became particularly well-known, appearing on their 2005 album of the same name. Other tracks like "De onde vem" and "Não Vou Mais Chorar" also circulated among listeners. The band faced some criticism from religious groups about mixing faith with secular music.
Promessa D put out several albums through 2012, including "Através do Tempo" in 2007 and "O Caminho" in 2012. Their music often dealt with themes of faith and perseverance.
