Propaganda was a German electronic group from Düsseldorf active in the 1980s. Their sound combined synthpop with industrial textures and sharp political lyrics, heard on tracks like "Duel" and "P-Machinery." The band featured Claudia Brücken and Ralf Dörper on vocals, along with several other members including Michael Mertens on guitar.
Their 1985 album "A Secret Wish" contained some of their most recognized work. The band released a few other records including "1234" and "The Murder of Love" in the mid-80s.
Internal tensions led to changes, with Dörper leaving around 1985 and Brücken continuing with a different lineup. Their relationship with the ZTT label reportedly involved some difficult contractual terms. Propaganda's music from that period remains a specific example of 80s German electronic music with a political edge.
