Prozzak

Prozzak formed in Los Angeles in 1994 with James Raney on vocals and guitar, Chuck Infante on bass, and Derek Freeman on drums. They put out four albums between 1998 and 2004, starting with a self-titled debut and following with 'Grandstand,' 'Hot Show,' and 'Who Do You Think You Are?'

Their songs like 'Cruel Cruel World,' 'Sleep With Myself,' and 'Anna-Lisa' often dealt with personal struggles and darker themes, which connected with some listeners but also drew criticism for being too heavy. The band kept writing what they wanted anyway, staying outside the mainstream.

They mixed rock with punk elements and sometimes used spoken word, creating a sound that felt raw and direct. Tracks such as 'Introduction To A Broken Heart' and 'Monday Morning' showed that straightforward approach, without much polish or studio gloss.

By the mid-2000s, Prozzak had stopped putting out new music, but those four albums remain a specific, unadorned document of that time and place.
