Pryor & Lee

Pryor & Lee were a country duo active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, pairing Floyd Pryor's voice with Jackson Lee's guitar work. Their sound drew from country, blues, and gospel, which some in the industry at the time found too unconventional. They managed to release five albums together.

Their 1972 single "Good Ol' Dogs and God" became their breakout hit. The song's plain-spoken lyrics about working-class life and faith connected with listeners, though its direct language also drew criticism from some quarters. Other songs in their catalog include "Carry On," "Fishin' In The Dark," and "Where Whiskey Goes."

The duo's partnership was reportedly strained at times by personal difficulties, including Pryor's issues with alcohol. They didn't sustain a long career together, but for a few years they made music that felt genuine to a certain audience, songs about simple things and hard truths without much polish.
