Prys Domyngues

Prys Domyngues came up in Blumenau, a town in southern Brazil, and started putting out music in the mid-2000s. His first album, 2007's 'Desmascarei,' got some attention with its title track, a spare ballad that felt like a private conversation. He's kept at it since, releasing records every few years through 2020.

His songs, like 'Eu Sobrevivo' and 'Palavras Palavras,' tend to work with straightforward arrangements, guitar, bass, drums, keys, and lyrics that lean toward the personal or observational. He plays with a loose group of musicians, including guitarist Mateus Asato and bassist Pedro Garcia, but the focus usually stays on the writing.

There's a directness to his work that some listeners connect with, a quality that doesn't try to dress things up too much. It's just a guy from Blumenau making records, one every so often, and a few of the songs have stuck around.
