They were joined by Bruno Cruz on cavaquinho, Pedro Martins on tamborim, and Leandro PG on surdo. The band focused on traditional samba styles rather than more commercial versions that were popular at the time.
They released albums including 'Samba de Raiz' in 2005, 'Raiz de Tudo' in 2007, and 'Na Palma da Mão' in 2010. Their song 'Meu Samba É' became one of their better-known tracks. The group worked with other Brazilian musicians like Beth Carvalho, Elza Soares, and Zeca Pagodinho.
Pura Raiz maintained a consistent lineup with Luizinho on vocals and percussion, Xande on vocals and guitar, Bruno Cruz on cavaquinho, Pedro Martins on tamborim, and Leandro PG on surdo. They continued releasing music through the 2010s with albums like 'Samba da Gente' in 2017 and 'Samba, Suor e Lágrima' in 2020.
