Pura Simpatia formed in Goiânia, Brazil in 1994 with Alexandre Pires on lead vocals, Xororó and Chitãozinho on backing vocals and guitar or bass, and Fernando Zor on drums. Their debut album came out in 1996, and the single "Declaração de Amor" became a major hit that year.
Their music worked with sertanejo traditions but had a pop feel, and they wrote about love and relationships. Other songs like "Namoral" and "Alguem Como Você" also got attention. In 1998, Alexandre Pires left to go solo, which changed the group's sound.
They put out several albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s, including a live record in 1999 and O Mundo É Um Moinho in 2001. The band faced some copyright questions around that time, but their early material, especially "Declaração de Amor," stayed popular in Brazil.
