Pure Inc.

Pure Inc. formed in the early 2000s with Michelle Weeks on vocals, Paul Martin on guitar, James Carter on bass, and David Morris on drums. Their 2003 album 'A New Day Dawn' featured the title track that became their most recognizable song, along with other tracks like 'Belivin'' and 'Skinflint' that defined their sound.

In 2006, Weeks was diagnosed with vocal nodules, which led to some canceled tour dates. The band released two more albums, 'Reflections' in 2005 and 'The Promise' in 2007, before their activity slowed. Their music combined ethereal vocals with guitar-driven arrangements that gave songs like 'Black Tea' and 'I'm Rolling Stone' their particular texture.

There were questions about their use of backing tracks during live shows, which created some tension around their performances. But the core of what they did remained those early recordings where Weeks' voice floated over Martin's guitar work, creating the atmosphere that made 'A New Day Dawn' stick with people.
