Pure Pose formed in London in 2010 with Willow Hayes on vocals and guitar, Anya Petrova on drums, Ethan Reed on bass, and James Carter on keyboards. They put out a debut EP called 'Echoes of a Distant Past' in 2012. Their first full album came three years later, named after the track 'Sugar' that became their calling card.
That song 'Sugar' got them noticed more widely and earned a Best New Artist nomination at the NME Awards in 2015. The band's lineup shifted in 2017 when James Carter left. They kept going as a trio, with Hayes, Petrova, and Reed.
