Editor's note

The Pussycat Dolls, from nightclub act to chart hits

A burlesque-inspired pop group that scored with 'Don't Cha' and 'Buttons' before going on hiatus.

For their biggest moment, 'Don't Cha' still sounds like a statement. 'Stickwitu' shows their pop side without the production fireworks.

The Pussycat Dolls arrived with a specific, flashy sound that was hard to ignore. Their 2005 single 'Don't Cha' with Busta Rhymes became an immediate hit, and tracks like 'Buttons' and 'Stickwitu' kept them on the charts. Their blend of pop hooks with burlesque-style performances made them a conversation piece, for better and worse.

They started as a nightclub act put together by choreographer Robin Antin in 2003. After signing with Interscope, their debut album 'PCD' came out in 2005, followed by 'Doll Domination' in 2008. The group went on hiatus after their last single 'Hush Hush' in 2009.

The Pussycat Dolls started as a nightclub act in 2003, put together by choreographer Robin Antin. The original lineup included Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton, and Kimberley Wyatt. They signed with Interscope Records and their first single 'Don't Cha' with Busta Rhymes became a hit in 2005.

Their debut album 'PCD' came out that same year, followed by 'Doll Domination' in 2008. Songs like 'Buttons,' 'Stickwitu,' and 'I Hate This Part' kept them on the charts. The group's performances drew from burlesque and pin-up styles, which sometimes brought criticism about how they presented female sexuality.

Former member Kaya Jones filed a lawsuit against the group in 2006, claiming she was unfairly let go. The case was settled out of court. The Pussycat Dolls released two albums before going on hiatus, with their last single being 'Hush Hush' in 2009.
