Pyrany formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1991 with vocalist João Diniz, percussionist Rodrigo Limp, and guitarist Nilo Romero. They started playing local bars and parties, drawing from samba, funk, and Brazilian popular music.
Their 1995 debut album 'A Moda Carioca' included the single 'Tá Bom Neném,' which became a hit across Brazil. The song's catchy melody and groove helped propel the band to national attention.
After their breakthrough, Pyrany released several more albums including 'Samba Pra Você' in 1997 and 'Samba de Verão' in 1999. In 2002, guitarist Nilo Romero left the group due to creative differences.
