Qiex formed in Rio de Janeiro around 2012, started by Pedro Guedes and Felipe Machado. Their music has a summery feel that caught on in Brazil, though some listeners questioned how they mixed pop with traditional Brazilian rhythms. They kept at it anyway.
Their first album came out in 2014 called "Sol e Mar," followed by "Vamos Dançar" in 2016. A few years later they put out "O Som do Verão," which had the track "Bem Vindo Verão" that became widely played during the season. You can hear that bright, rhythmic quality in songs like "Mudanças" and "Wave (part. Geek MC)" from their catalog.
Beyond recording, Qiex has been involved with environmental awareness campaigns, which sometimes comes through in their lyrics. They haven't released much new material in recent years, but those earlier albums and singles still get plenty of spins when the weather turns warm.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
