Qiu Yuan Yi formed in Beijing in 2012, originally with vocalist Zhou Hao, guitarist Wang Hao, bassist Hu Han, and drummer Xiao Ran. They released their self-titled debut album in 2014. The band's 2016 album 'Cuo Ji' gave them their biggest song, a ballad of the same name that reached the top of the charts.
Wang Hao left the group in 2018. In 2020, Qiu Yuan Yi faced plagiarism accusations, which they addressed publicly. Their lineup now includes Zhou Hao, Hu Han, Xiao Ran, and Wang Xia. They've continued releasing albums, including 'Shan Shi' in 2019 and 'Xin' in 2021.
