QNP came out of New York City in the early 2000s as a trio: Jester, Cellist, and Damage. Their sound was unconventional from the start, with Cellist's haunting cello lines and Damage's thunderous drumming backing Jester's lyrics. They built a following on the underground circuit before putting out their debut album, "Life's a Risk," in 2005.
The title track "Life's a Risk, Carnal" became an anthem of sorts, pushing the album to wider attention. That attention brought scrutiny, though. Their lyrics, which touched on violence and social unrest, sparked public backlash and led to some canceled shows. They kept recording, following up with albums like "Carnal" in 2007 and "The Devil's Music" in 2010.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
