Qortni formed around vocalist Emily Panic, guitarist Cameron Snyder, and drummer Sam Slattery. They released their debut album 'On This Day' in 2019, with the title track becoming a notable song for listeners who connected with its themes.
After that first album, the band put out more work including 'Whispers in the Wind' and 'Ashes of the Past.' Their sound generally kept to atmospheric arrangements and personal lyrics, with Panic's voice carrying much of the emotional weight.
At one point they faced plagiarism allegations following their debut's reception, which they disputed by saying their music was their own original expression. They kept recording anyway.
