A Birmingham band whose atmospheric sound briefly caught the Mercury Prize's attention.
For a quick sense of their sound, 'Jeans' is the obvious touchstone, but 'Average Fruit' has that same quiet, soulful atmosphere they did so well.
Quadron's music had this hushed, atmospheric quality that felt both intimate and carefully arranged. Songs like 'Jeans' mixed soulful vocals with electronic touches in a way that felt fresh for its moment. That track got nominated for the Mercury Prize and for a while seemed to be everywhere, giving the band a real moment of notice.
They put out their self-titled debut in 2009, which introduced their sound and included 'Jeans'. A second album, 'Avalanche', followed in 2013, but the band's activity tapered off after that and they never quite recaptured that initial burst.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
