Quadrophenia was a British mod rock band that formed in the mid-1960s. The group consisted of Roger Daltrey on lead vocals, Pete Townshend on guitar and vocals, John Entwistle on bass and vocals, and Keith Moon on drums. Townshend wrote most of their material, including the 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia that gave the band its name and explored themes of identity and youth culture.
Their songs like "Sea and Sand," "Cut My Hair," and "The Real Me" became anthems for the mod subculture. The band's live shows were known for their energy, though Moon's drumming style and personal behavior sometimes drew attention away from the music itself.
Quadrophenia released several albums including The Who Sell Out in 1967, Who's Next in 1971, and Who Are You in 1978. The 1979 film Quadrophenia helped cement their association with mod culture. Their music continues to be heard in various contexts, though the band's original lineup ended with Moon's death in 1978.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
