Qualquer Um formed in Curitiba, Brazil, in the mid-1990s, with Jean Endrigo on vocals and guitar, Fabiano Erzinger on guitar, Mauricio Riedel on bass, and Leonardo Nogueira on drums. They started playing in local bars and clubs, drawing from the city's punk and hardcore scene.
In 1999, they released "Roncou a Cuia do Mate," a single that became widely known in Brazil. The song's lyrics about working-class life connected with listeners, and the band put out an album with the same title in 2000. Their music mixed punk, rock, and Brazilian sounds, with lyrics that often addressed social issues.
They released several more albums, including Contrababas in 2002, Não Sou Eu in 2005, Um Mundo Melhor in 2008, Sobreviventes in 2012, and Utopia in 2016. Their straightforward approach to songwriting kept them active in Brazilian alternative music for years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
