Archive material and source history
Quantica formed in Brazil with vocalist Nando Reis, guitarist Marisa Monte, bassist Dadi Carvalho, keyboardist Arnaldo Antunes, and drummer Cézar Mendes. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1997, followed by 'A Ópera do Malandro' in 1998, which was inspired by Chico Buarque. They released 'Trilogia' in 2000 and 'Balaio do Batuque' in 2004, with 'Lado B Lado A' arriving in 2016.
Their song 'Ao Meu Redor' became particularly well-known, though in 2002 there were accusations about its melody that the band denied. Other tracks include 'Ya No Me Haces Falta', 'Depois De Ontem a Noite', and 'Tiempo aire'.
Quantica has worked with artists like David Byrne, Caetano Veloso, and Seu Jorge. Their music draws from various Brazilian rhythms and incorporates electronic elements.
