Quarteto Naipe formed in 2006 in São Paulo with four musicians: Nego Álvaro on vocals and percussion, Paulinho da Viola on cavaquinho, Gabriel Santiago on guitar, and Rubinho do Vale on drums. They worked in small venues and festivals for several years before finding wider attention.
In 2012, their song "Minha Baby" became a hit in Brazil, bringing the group national recognition. They've released several albums since their formation, including Samba Urbano in 2008, Naipe de Copas in 2011, and Tanto Mais in 2014.
The group plays samba with contemporary elements, drawing from Brazil's musical traditions. Another of their songs, "Por Caminhos," appears among their most popular recordings.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
