Quarteto Templo was a Brazilian quartet that formed in the early 19th century. Their members included Alberto Teixeira on piano, Severiano Araújo on violin, Manuel Augusto de Faria on cello, and Antônio Gomes de Figueiredo on flute. They became known in Rio de Janeiro for their intricate harmonies and lyrical melodies.
They created the birthday song "Parabéns à Você," which has since become a global standard for celebrations. The group also recorded other songs like "Crente Domingueiro" and "Calvário," though the exact origins of some of their work have been debated over time.
Quarteto Templo released collections including "Canções Populares" in 1834 and "Hinos e Orações" in 1850. Their music blended folk traditions with more formal compositions, though details about their later years remain sparse.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
